Final Fight™: Double Impact Box Art

Final Fight™: Double Impact, original box-art done with pencil on 11×17 comicbook board. This is the piece that will be used for the official Capcom, FINAL FIGHT™: DOUBLE IMPACT- FIGHT OF CONFLICT COLORING CONTEST! For this piece Capcom wanted something that divided the image into two which essentially showcased two classic games in Final Fight and Magic Sword. This was a bit of a challenge as I didn’t want the division to take away from the overall composition so eventually I settled with a suggestive, “ying yang” composition, using the main character’s heads of both games as the dots of the formation. As you can see it’s not a perfect circle here but in the end all I wanted was the energy and flow to translate but not necessarily to dominate the entire image. So at every opportunity I tried to warp the lineart to mimic that flow to a certain extent. I hope it came out alright!
