Certificates are just a piece of paper. So is most art. It's drawn on a piece of paper. Which one matters more, the piece of art or the certificate? I'll take the art.

great interview :)

i was really wondering does it matter how many certificates you have?
i mean do you have to take alot of courses and stuff to have certificates..i dont know maybe to prove that u can work on a certain program or something..??
or just having the talent is the most important thing?

Alvin, Alvin, Alvin, Alvin, Alvin........

WOW!!!

Well, to get started, I've been observing your absolutely stunning and amazing works for the past year or so and maybe even more without me even knowing, since Ive been a fan of the street fighter series ever since i was at the tender age of 4-5.

Before i even tell you anything of what awaits me in the near future let me tell you about my life story.

(Sorry if this comes as a surprise to you though!) ^-^!

Since i was 8 years old i dreamed of becoming a cartoonist/animator. I always had that dream and soon found out about Japanese Manga/Animation when i received my first Gameboy color with a Pokemon game. Through that I was hooked on the Pokemon franchise.

At the age of 14 i was watching Animax. Its a anime channel. Anyway, I was amazed at all the different styles of Japanese artwork involved so I checked out a professional wbsite that could get me started called "Manga University" and it helped me improve tremendously. Infact because of that website i feel like as though i am on the verge of becoming professional.

Well as the times passed by with a calm breeze of confidence in my heart's passion for art, i improved even more, but not yet even to the standards you can see in the industry. Anyway, I'm 17 now and within 2 years, i will be leaving high school to go live in Beautiful Japan and studying in a university that has Manga/Animation as one of it's creative subjects. It's a 2 year course.

My Uncle, (well not exactly cos he's my dad's friend and insists that i must call him that), said to me that he had a friend who was a comic artist that helped draw for him when he wrote English-Japanese books, was part of the production team which produces the one and only Naruto!!!!! I could potentially be working for them!

Well, I am Khmer and i'm currently living in Cambodia.
I've been through alot and there's still alot that I want to tell you but lets just wait and see what the future holds for this message, if it ever gets to you. Hopefully I'll hear from you soon because I know how demanding your work is.

And to round everything off, your work has inspired me and touched the very depths of my heart on the amount of dedication, hours, and work you have put into what you stand for and aim in life. And yes, your work has actually brought a tear to my eye because i realized how much work you have put in.

In your interview on Chiu-Stream, you said that you had received a sketch book from a professional artist. i absolutely know how you feel, the flood of emotions that go through your mind and the amount of love that you now have for the man who cared enough for you, even if you may not have known the guy for very long.

Because, every time your work gets published out, thats how i feel when my eyes can get to see or at least catch a glimpse of your work.

I dunno what to say, you're my role model.
Your the best and I will defienelty grow and one day tell my children about a man who inspired me and help turn me into the artist i am today.

Well, I hope I can get to hear from you soon as i wrap things up and i wish that you keep on thriving even til the time you reach your day because it would be absolutely heart breaking if you stopped what you do today.

Have Great time in what you're doing and I wish you the best.

Your's sincerely,
Nikko Noryvong Sisowath

Hey Alvin! That was a very laid-back, interesting, but definitely inspiring interview!

You make me very angry. But it's a good anger!

Keep up the awesome job. You made a lot of very good points, e.g. the getting angry, the getting inspired by others, the views on new media and techniques/technology.

Thanks for being (to me) a pioneer on being a next-gen comic book artist.
